Swiss media puts Rare Earth Elements in the Spotlight
Swiss companies are beginning to feel the effects of export restrictions on rare earth elements imposed by China back in April. Switzerland primarily imports rare earth elements in the form of semi-finished products, which are used in everything from medical sensors to car engines. Growing concerns among Swiss companies and noticeable supply bottlenecks, especially regarding components imported from other European countries, have propelled critical raw materials from a niche issue to one covered by mainstream media. Read and listen to what the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ), the Handelszeitung (the same article is also available in the Blick) and the Echo der Zeit have to say about the situation. Earlier this month, the Handelsblatt had discussed the effects of China’s policy on Germany.
